Sign #1: Deep empathy
Children with a natural shamanic calling and life path have a deeply rooted empathy and a natural ability to connect with others on an uncommon level.
Shaman-children are usually very sensitive and sense things beyond the norm. They may be disturbed by violent or hurtful scenes.
Where something on TV or in a movie might make other children wince or be frightened for a moment, children with a shamanic calling allow such scenes to linger in their minds. They can feel exactly what it is like to be in someone else's shoes and are seriously disturbed by the pain and suffering of others. Empathy is defined as the ability to experience the feelings of others.
Sign #2: Clairvoyance and clairaudience
Clairvoyance: the gift of sight. The ability to "see" things, whether it be ulterior motives, intentions in the physical world; or the ability to see aura and spiritual energy. Many clairvoyants can read people's energies, "know" when someone is ill, or more specifically what part of the body or some physical organ is out of order, and tune into other people on a psychic level. Clairvoyance often leads to dreams and visions.
Clairaudience: the ability to hear things from the spirit world or to receive auditory information from subtle dimensions. Children with clairaudience often claim to hear trees, plants, and animals talking to them. Moreover, these children are very connected to the divine, their higher selves or spirit guides.
Sign #3: A strong connection to nature
A natural affinity with the environment, earth's inhabitants and plant species is another sure indicator that a child will become in tune with his or her shamanic roots at some point in life.
For those who have a shamanic calling in life, a sense of unity with nature and all its inhabitants is a deeply emotional, mental and spiritual experience. It is strongly related to empathy.
Sign #4: Age-independent wisdom
Finally, many shamanic children are often labeled as wise beyond their years. This can be expressed in many ways, from being seen for their intellectual and academic progress and maturity in school, to being recognized for their unique intuitive, compassionate, and empathic abilities. Children with strong shamanic roots will always excel at something at a younger age.
Of course, no one can truly determine if someone is going to become a great spiritual teacher and shaman from childhood and adolescence, unless the person is raised in a community of like-minded people or is introduced to this path early on.
There are many signs of a shamanic calling, and in truth, a whole book could be written on the subject. The beauty of the shamanic calling is that it will always be present and part of the true self. Shamanism is embedded deep within.
