One of the main conditions for healing is
the desire to heal

The mind and the body are not separate. They work as one system. Psychosomatic medicine studies this connection, showing how our emotions, thoughts, and beliefs directly affect our physical health. Sometimes medication, diets, and procedures don’t bring real results because something essential is missing: an inner “yes” to being well.

Why the desire to heal matters

Imagine sitting in a car with the engine running, but you have no intention of going anywhere. The car works, but it stays still. The body is the same. You can take pills, go to therapy, drink herbal teas, and do all the right things. But without a true inner intention to be healthy, the body does not receive the clear signal to move forward.

Desire is the starter of self-healing. It activates:
  • Your inner resources like immunity and regulation systems
  • Awareness, helping you see what in your lifestyle, emotions, or relationships supports illness
  • Energy for action, giving you the strength to change habits and follow through

When the desire is blocked

Sometimes people sincerely try to heal, but their condition keeps coming back. Often this is not because they are weak, but because something inside is holding them back.

Common reasons include:
  • Hidden benefits of illness: getting care, rest, or a break from responsibilities
  • Exhaustion from fighting for too long
  • Fear of change because healing may require new choices or a new life
  • Deep guilt or unworthiness, the feeling of “I don’t deserve to be well”
  • These are not failures. They are signals asking for deeper attention.

When the desire is blocked

1. Ask yourself honestly:
What will change in my life when I become healthy? Write down both the good and the scary parts.

2. Find your personal reasons.
Not abstract ideas like “living longer,” but real ones: playing with your children, traveling freely, feeling light and alive.

3. Visualize yourself well.
Close your eyes and imagine one full day of your healthy life. Feel it. Let the body learn this future.

4. Release guilt.
You are not being punished by illness. You are allowed to be well simply because you exist.

5. Start small.
Sometimes “I want to be completely healthy” feels too big. Begin with something simple: “I want to sleep peacefully,” or “I want this pain to ease today.”

Your body is not your enemy. It is your closest ally. When you sincerely tell it, “I choose health,” it begins to use resources you may not even realize you have.

Healing is not magic. It is cooperation. And it always starts with permission.
