Cleansing the House with the Four Elements

We have all been taught how to keep our homes clean — to tidy up, wash floors, and maintain order. However, very few of us know that our living space also needs to be cleansed on an energetic level — from stagnant energies, various blockages, and heavy accumulations that form due to family arguments, heavy thoughts of household members, and the constant stream of information coming from the television.

Let’s explore how to energetically cleanse your home using the power of the Four Elements.
Important Preparations Before Cleansing:

  • It is best to perform the cleansing during the Full Moon or on the waning Moon.
  • Ideally, only you should be at home during the process. It is better to take the children to their grandparents.
  • Before starting, give yourself at least 15 minutes of calm (relax with a cup of tea, slow down, turn off your phone).

Cleansing the House with the Element of Earth

Salt is an element of the Earth and has a strong cleansing effect. This is why salt is used for Earth-element cleansing. Use natural rock salt without aromatic additives or dyes — preferably coarse sea or rock salt.

1. Take the salt and attune yourself to the Element of Earth (greet it, communicate with it, and ask for its help).
2. Sprinkle the salt around the house. You don’t need to cover the entire floor evenly — just scatter a small amount on open areas.
3. After 10–15 minutes, sweep up the salt.
4. Thank the Element of Earth for its help.
5. Be sure to dispose of the used salt properly. Do not leave it in the house even for half an hour! You can bury it in the earth.

Cleansing the House with the Element of Water

Water (talk to it and ask for its help).
2. “Speak” to the water — mentally fill it with images and feelings of what you want to bring into your home (love, happiness, abundance, children, etc.).
3. Use this water to wipe dust, water the plants, and sprinkle the entire house, paying special attention to sleeping areas.
4. Thank the Element of Water sincerely from the heart.
5. Return the remaining water to any of the elements — usually by pouring it onto the earth.

To enhance the effect and combine Earth and Water, you can add a little salt to the water.

Cleansing the House with the Element of Fire

1. Light a candle made of natural beeswax.
2. Prepare a stand where the melting wax can drip.
3. Attune yourself to the Element of Fire (talk to the fire and ask for its help).
4. Walk around the entire house clockwise with the lit candle. Trace the flame along all walls (both external and internal), giving special attention to corners and stagnant areas (closets, under beds, under tables).
5. Thank the Element of Fire for its help.
6. Let the candle burn down completely.
7. Dispose of the remaining stubs by burning them or burying them in the earth.

Caution: Never leave fire unattended during the cleansing.

Cleansing the House with the Element of Air

Any practice that involves sound or aroma belongs to the Element of Air: drums, bells, incense sticks, frankincense, essential oils, singing bowls, etc. Frankincense is considered one of the most powerful for energetic cleansing.

Practice:
1. Open all windows to let a fresh stream of air into the house.
2. Connect with the Element of Air — breathe deeply, feel it with your hands, talk to it, and ask for help.
3. Cleanse the space.

If using incense or smoke:
- Close windows and doors, light the incense so the smoke fills all rooms, including open drawers and closets.
- After 15–20 minutes, open the windows wide and ventilate the space thoroughly.

Sound Cleansing:
Use a drum, mouth harp, bells, singing bowl, or any other ethnic instrument. Walk through all rooms, reaching even the most hidden corners, and fill the space with purifying sound vibrations.
Once you have completed the energetic cleansing with all Four Elements, it is highly recommended to take a salt bath yourself.

Such a deep cleansing should be done at least once a year, and ideally twice a year (in spring and autumn) or more often if needed.

In addition to major cleansings, it is good to perform light daily preventive practices:
- Light a candle at the end of the day to clear the thoughts and energy of all family members, as well as the space itself.
- Fill the air with the aromas of essential oils or burning incense sticks.
- Play an ethnic musical instrument and let its mystical vibrations flow through your home.

The Elements are always with us.
Cleanse your home both physically and energetically — and may your house always be your fortress and a true power place, where you are energetically replenished and soulfully happy.
