Power Tools: How Amulets Help Practitioners Work More Effectively

The amulets used by practitioners differ noticeably from ordinary charms for “luck” or “love.” They are more complex in structure and almost always tied to the personal settings and level of the person working with them. Their connections can be of different kinds — egregorial, planetary, elemental, flow-based, linked to spirits and entities — but the main difference is that such objects are oriented primarily toward the tasks and capacities of the practitioner themselves, rather than general social needs.

Over time, any practitioner goes beyond the initial foundation, and ordinary tools become insufficient. Then amulets appear that amplify the shaman’s abilities, protect space, help replenish energy, clear accumulated negativity, or are used in specific rituals. These are not “magic buttons” that grant new abilities out of nothing, but additional vessels and assistants that allow one to work more effectively and spend less energy on routine tasks.
Below are the main types of such amulets and why practitioners use them in everyday and working life.

Amplifiers

One of the basic needs of any shaman is the strengthening of personal power, which can increase through the reinforcement of working “connections” or the practitioner’s own energy. This also affects the effectiveness of the work being done.

Such amplification mainly occurs through amulets or other attributes. No amulet will “open the third eye” or grant unlimited power over the element of fire and so on. Such amulets and talismans amplify what is already present; they do not give new abilities — they strengthen to the maximum what already exists.

It is like water: you cannot pour two liters into a one-liter jar. However, you can connect a second one-liter jar, like communicating vessels from school physics, and thereby turn one liter into two. Amulets are precisely these additional “vessels.”

Protective

One of the frequent amulets among practitioners is an amulet for the protection not only of yourself, but also of the apartment or house where you live, as well as your workspace where rituals are performed.

Circumstances may arise that create a need for additional personal protection, for example when visiting negative or unpleasant places. This is done so that during the ritual the practitioner does not have to divert attention from the main work to analyzing their own protection and who is “picking at” them.

Place-protection talismans correspondingly protect the space where the practitioner rests or works, since one does not always want to scan one’s dwelling for various negative trifles, nor spend extra time and energy removing them.

Accordingly, wall amulets also protect personal space. This is done not out of whim or the practitioner’s weakness, but because there is no point in spending energy and time that could be used for other benefit if it is possible to shift some everyday “necessities” onto an amulet.

Cleansing

No matter how great your knowledge of protection may be, unfortunately nothing protects a person 100% from negative energies that come to us and into us from the surrounding space.

Even a simple handshake with a person who envies you can disrupt all kinds of protections against envy, because you yourself gave “permission” for it through the handshake — that is, you yourself opened the protection against negativity.

Of course, maintaining energetic cleanliness is almost one of the first practices in energetics; cleansing an apartment or house of negativity is already much more complex, but it also needs to be done.

There are special “trainings” that allow you simply “not to accept” negativity into yourself, even without any “filtering” settings and so on. But even possessing such skills, sooner or later you will have to engage in cleansing.

And if a person does not live on the top floor, and lives on the first floor of a multi-story building — then cleansing objects will be very useful, because the entire stream of this negativity coming from all the upper floors through the first floor is hard to remove constantly by hand.

When the need arises, various objects can be used, including amulets and talismans, both for yourself and for the home, which will independently clear negativity. Some simply “draw in” all the negativity and afterwards require separate cleansing.

Additional Energy Replenishment

Another basic need of a shaman who works by directly expending personal energy is that energy is very often insufficient. Or there is enough of it, but expending it in such quantities literally knocks you off your feet, not to mention the emotional exhaustion, which can even be dangerous.

The more complex the practice — and especially in ritual work — the more energy must be spent at once. Work requiring prolonged stay in a deep trance state also expends a great deal of energy, but it is spent throughout the entire time the practitioner remains in that state: even one hour means expenditure for the whole hour, and what if it is six hours?…

In such cases, additional sources of energy are very often used — it does not matter where, by whom, or which ones are taken; the main thing is that they make it possible not to be completely drained by the end of the work.

Special Ritual

For certain rituals and practices that stand apart from the rest, special amulets exist. There are amulets made for a specific ritual; sometimes they are completely disposable, and for the next identical ritual one must make the same amulet again.

Beyond everything listed above, there is simply an entire section of ritual-ceremonial amulets: each planet and element has dozens of kinds of amulets, each egregor contains hundreds of kinds of amulets, and so on — not to mention the rest of the toolkit.
If there is an opportunity to remove from yourself the burden of distracting actions, or an opportunity to amplify something that will allow even better results to be achieved, if there is an opportunity to work safely with most entities without binding them to yourself directly — then why not make use of all this?
