BREATHING EXERCISES FOR CLEANSING THE ENERGY SYSTEM

The following exercises can be done by anyone. They are primarily intended for cleansing and enhancing the energy system. Some of them help you learn how to control energies. If any exercise releases too much energy, do not repeat it until the new energy integrates into your system.

It’s helpful to have a friend guiding the session, as it’s much easier to “get into” the exercise without having to read instructions during the practice. If no one is available, you can record the instructions and play them back. If your time and resources are limited, the following four exercises can offer quick and effective support.

Deep, Calm Breathing

Straighten your body and relax as much as possible. Ideally, lie down. Breathe deeply and slowly, using whichever method feels most natural: if abdominal breathing is easier for you, breathe with your belly; if chest breathing works better, use your chest. Do everything as calmly as possible without focusing on technique.

This exercise is meant to naturally correct disruptions in the breathing process. Breathe deeply with every cell. If your breathing pattern begins to shift, don’t resist—let your body choose what it wants. Imagine the breath energy penetrating every cell. This exercise works wonderfully whether you do it for a few minutes or half an hour. It’s great to practice before meditation, during the day to restore energy, or before sleep to relax.

Color Breathing

Sit or lie down comfortably, ensuring your spine is straight. Begin to inhale with your whole body, feeling the breath enter every cell. Then, visualize your body filling with red light (make it red “with love” — to avoid triggering old disappointments). Hold this light for a few minutes, breathe it into every cell, and clearly sense your energy system vibrating.

Let go of the red light, and repeat the same process with orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, and pale lilac light (in this exact sequence).

To finish, fill your body with radiant white light and meditate on the divine source. (The meditation can vary — focusing on a spiritual being, the universe, the meaning of life, or a spiritual verse or concept.)
At the end of the exercise, stretch your entire body.

Mental Control

The ability to control the flow and direction of energy within the body significantly reduces energy congestion in specific areas. Here are three ways to perform this exercise:

  1. Focus your attention on any area of the body that feels blocked and allow the energy to spread from that place throughout your body.
  2. Focus on a blocked area and “imagine” the energy moving into the spine, then rising upward and exiting through the top of the head.
  3. Focus on an area with tension and “imagine” that extra energy enters this spot and clears the blockage as it passes through.

Vibrational Breathing

Sit upright or lie down comfortably, keeping your spine straight. Breathe deeply so that both your chest and abdomen rise and fall actively. Begin by filling the lower chest area with air, slightly drawing in the abdomen, then gradually fill the middle and upper chest.

Inhale while counting to seven; hold your breath for seven seconds; exhale while counting to seven; then hold your breath again for seven seconds. Repeat.

You may synchronize the count with your pulse — the speed is less important than maintaining equal durations for each phase and ensuring a continuous breathing cycle.

If your chest barely moves during inhalation or exhalation, try to consciously expand it when inhaling and contract it when exhaling. Many people have such tight chest muscles that they find it hard to take a proper breath.

Once the rhythm is established and counting becomes automatic, become aware of the universe’s breath — its pulsation — and the vibrating hum. You can continue this exercise as part of an ongoing meditation.

Releasing Breath

Breathe deeply and calmly. Focus on the exhale: first imagine it flowing out through your big toes, then through the other toes, and finally through the crown of your head. Visualize or imagine your breath carrying away all of life’s difficulties from your body.
